The Make-it or Break-it Tool You Need to Know About

Recently, I was hired to take on a large scale event that has been going on for many, many years. I've never attended the event in person, but I had heard lots about it and I was excited to be brought in on it & couldn't wait to jump into the planning and designing process!

But as I began to dive in, I realized that there was a key tool missing. A timeline! There was no sort of direction of what to do and when to do it. I felt so lost! It was like feeling my way around in the dark every single day. I quickly discovered that a timeline was going to make it or break it for me and decided to get to work plotting out what needed to happen when.

This happens too often though. Without the guiding hand of a checklist we are left trying to figure out where to go next unsure of if we missed anything along the way. Regardless of if you are planning a wedding or another event, your timeline needs to be your best friend! It will provide you guidance for every step of the way. If you don't already have a timeline or checklist of some sort, begin to craft one by thinking about key action steps and then work your way down to filling out all the little details. Also make sure to update it daily as you work through tasks.

You might also want to think about multiple timelines. One for the planning process and one for the day of your event. Day of timelines are especially important because they insure that all of the hard work you have done leading up to your event pays off and your event runs smoothly.

Now, you might be feeling a little lost if you don't have a wedding checklist to be working from. But don't worry! Everyone loves FREE so, check out this amazing 12 month timeline published by the Knot!
